Castle Healthcare Practice offers online services to all patients, including access to summary information in their GP record.
Online services do not replace traditional ways of contacting your GP over the phone or in person. They simply offer additional ways to interact with your GP, making it easier and more convenient.
For example, you can book and cancel appointments any time of the day, order your repeat prescription from home or at work, save yourself a trip to the GP practice, or look up your medications online.
In return, it's hoped the services will free up phone lines for people with no internet access, and enable GP practices to manage appointments and telephone calls more efficiently.
There are currently three transactional services available:
- Booking and cancelling appointments
- Repeat prescriptions
- Access to Summary Care Record
- Access to Detailed Coded Record

You must register at reception for online access to these facilities.
Registration for online services is separate from registration with the GP practice. To register, just show a receptionist your photo ID. They will set up your request and hand over your own personal username and password. This account is usually activated within 24 hours. You are free to change your password at any time. This registration method ensures your identity can be verified by us and your personal details cannot be accessed by others.

There are a number of different services for people who need internet training such as UK online centres. Others are provided by local authorities, colleges and charities. The best place to start would be your local library.
